Epidaurus
Epidaurus is a historic town of Argolida on its eastern side. It is built at the foot of mountains where, according to mythology, Asclepius was born where his worship began there for the first time in the 6th century BC. century. Its strategic position, but mainly its Asclepius, contributed to the unprecedented growth of the city. Its inhabitants were mainly engaged in shipping. Its first settlement belongs to the prehistoric age.
Nafplio
Nafplio is a city of the Peloponnese, the capital of the Prefecture of Argolis and the main port of the eastern Peloponnese. It is one of the most picturesque cities in the country, and it was the capital of the Greek state during the period 1828 – 1833. Nafplio is known for Bourtzi, a small fort built on an islet in the harbor, for Palamidi, a Venetian fortress dominating the city of Acronauplia, another Venetian fortress, and the place of murder of Ioannis Kapodistrias. According to Greek mythology, Nafplios founded Nafplia, which was fortified with cyclopean walls. Archaeological findings prove the existence of the city since the Mycenaean years.
Mycenae
Mycenae was an ancient city of Argolis opposite the Argolic Gulf. The archaeological site of Mycenae is about 90 kilometers southwest of Athens, in the northeastern Peloponnese. During the second millennium BC, Mycenae was one of the largest centers of Greek civilization, forming a strong military fortress that dominated most of southern Greece. At the height of their glory, in 1350 BC, the castle and the lower city had 30,000 inhabitants and were 32 hectares. First, Homer refers to the city by describing it with the words «wide-eyed, gold-colored».
Olympia
Olympia was the most glorious sanctuary of ancient Greece dedicated to Zeus. It was the venue for the Olympic Games which took place during the Olympion, the most important celebration of Greeks during most of the ancient times. Similar festivals were the Pythia that were organized in honor of Apollo in Delphi, Isthmia in honor of Poseidon in the Isthmus of Corinth and Nemea, also in honor of Zeus in his sanctuary in Nemea. In Olympia, within the magnificent temple of the god, was the statue of Zeus, a work of Phidias, which was known in ancient times as one of the seven wonders of the world. The starting point of the Olympic Games is placed in 776 BC. and it took place every four years. During the Hellenistic period several buildings were built, mainly for secular reasons, such as Gymnasium and Palaestra, were built, and in the Roman years they were re-transformed. Thermal houses, luxurious residences and the aqueduct were also built. The operation of the sanctuary continued in the first Christian years of Constantine the Great. In 393 AD the last Olympic Games were held.
Delphi
Delphi was an ancient Greek city in which operated the most important oracle of the ancient Greek world. The town dates from the Homeric years under the name Pythos. At the beginning of the historical times it was one of the cities of ancient Phocis, but gradually the role of the city was strengthened and evolved into a panhellenic center and holy city of ancient Greeks. Delphi retained their important position until the end of the 4th century AD, when Theodosius I finally closed the operation of the oracle.
Meteora
Meteora is a complex of huge, dark-colored rocks of sandstone, rising out of Kalabaka, near the first hills of Pindus and Chasia. The Meteora monasteries, built on the top of some of the rocks, are now the second most important monastic complex in Greece, after Mount Athos. Of the thirty that were built historically, there are currently remaining only seven, which since 1988 have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

1st Day
Athens – Nafplio – Mycenae – Olympia
We depart by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal (short stop). We drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidauros, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then we proceed to the town of Nauplion (short stop for photographs), we drive on to Mycenae and visit the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Then we depart for Olympia through Central Peloponnese and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Overnight in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games. Dinner.2nd Day
Olympia – Delphi
In the morning we visit the Archaeological Site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Then we drive on through the plains of Eliad and Achaia until the magnificent bridge which is crossing the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. We pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea, arrive in Delphi. Overnight. Dinner.3rd Day
Delphi – Meteora
In the morning we visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum. Departure for Kalambaka, a small town stated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks. Overnight. Dinner.4th Day
Meteora – Athens
We visit Meteora, among striking scenery, perched on top of huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Monasteries, where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop to see across the road the Leonida's Monument). Arrival in Athens early in the evening.Tour Location

- REDUCTIONS: Children aged up to 4 years old carried free of charge provided no bed or seat in the bus is occupied, or meals offered. Children aged 4 – 12 years old are granted a 50% reduction of the official rate (except excursions No.1C, No.9A & No.9B).
- CANCELLATIONS: No cancellation fees unless last moment. The “NO CANCELLATION FEES” condition valid if a tour is cancelled within two hours prior to departure time.
- ITINERARIES: As specifically mentioned in each tour. In case of a force major and / or reasons beyond our control and events that occur after the tour departure, we reserve the right to modify the routing and alter the itineraries.
- BAGGAGE’S: Is at the risk of every individual passenger. “GALEA TRAVEL” and its agents cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to luggage while on our motor coaches or while loading and unloading. Rates quoted include handling one piece of luggage per person.
- LOST ITEMS: Small articles, coats, wraps, umbrellas, cameras, hand bags and any other items are carried on a motor coach are entirely under the care of the passenger who is cautioned of the risk attached to these being left in conveyances. Every effort will be made to retrieve lost or forgotten items. However, “GALEA TRAVEL” and its agents, in no way can be held responsible if such items are not retrieved.
- INSURANCE: Passengers are covered against injuries while on coaches only.
- CITY TAX: The above rates do not include the new “City Tax” for overnights in hotels.
