Patmos

Patmos is a unique place, lovable and touching. For a moment, you do not know whether the place witnesses the history, or whether history has created the place. These visions inspired St. John the Theologian to write the Book of Revelation that completes the New Testament, giving some of the bleakest descriptions of the Bible. The capital of the Municipality of Patmos is Chora, built on a hill where the Monastery of St. John the Theologian is located, a UNESCO World Heritage Monument since 1999. Other smaller settlements of the island are Skala, Kampos, Diakofti and Stavros. The island offers the visitor beautiful beaches and clean waters. It is a religious center of global interest and at the same time an ideal destination for holidaymakers who desire tranquility and a beautiful natural environment.
