Spain has an area of 505,000 sq. Km. and occupies most of the Iberian peninsula. It borders with France and Portugal and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It also includes the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands archipelago as well as two cities on the opposite coast of Africa: Ceuta and Melilla. With higher mountains the Pyrenees, Sierra Nevada, Teide in Tenerife… With vast plateaus such as Castile, Manza. With fertile plains crossing the great rivers of the country: Evros, Tagus, Guadiana, Guadalquivir… The morphological puzzle of Spain is full of contradictions and differences. The population of the country amounts to 40 million inhabitants. The official language of the state is the Spanish at the same time but Catalan, the Basque and the Galician language are officially used in the corresponding autonomous provinces. The Spanish constitution says it is a popular state, but most Spaniards assume the Catholic Christian religion. The constitution is constitutional parliamentary monarchy. The Spanish Constitution of 1978 sought to recognize the strong personality of the various regions of Spain. These are local governments with very important and great responsibilities. Today, Spain is divided into seventeen autonomous provinces and each one has its own local Parliament and its own governor elected by the people. Madrid (the capital of the country) is the seat of the Assembly of Members, consisting of 350 representatives are elected by universal proportional vote throughout Spain. And the Senate is the Upper House consisting of 225 senators elected by the majority system in each of the provinces. These two bodies exercise the legislative power at national level.


1st Day


Meeting at the airport and flight to the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona. Arrival, transfer and check in at our hotel. Free time for a first acquaintance with the city.
2nd Day


Our tour starts at Barcelona's central square, Plaza Catalunia. We will cross the famous Paseo de Gracia boulevard with the city's most expensive shops and the finest houses from the modern era of famous architects, most notably Casa Batllo and Casa Mila of the great Antonio Gaudi. We will stop and see his masterpiece, the famous Sagrada Familia church. We continue our tour through Porto Olympico, a port during the Olympic Games, the Olympic Village and Barceloneta, an old neighborhood of fishermen. We will cross the other side of the city and ascend to the Montjuik hill where the Olympic Stadium and all the facilities of the 1992 Olympics are located. Our next stop at the Spanish Village, built for the 1929 World Exposition. Our tour will end in the historic city center, the famous Gothic Quarter where most of the administrative buildings, the palace of the Catholic kings and the cathedral are located.
3rd Day


After breakfast depart for the most typical Mediterranean city of Spain, Valencia. Levante capital, as it is called in Spanish the east side of Spain. Early in the afternoon we will have a panoramic tour of the city, which carries the architectural and cultural tradition of a thousand years of its history. Today Valencia could be described as one of Europe's most modern cities. We will pass through the old town and see the town hall of the city that lends a Renaissance Baroque style and was the headquarters of the Republicans at the time of the civil war. Then we will see the palace of Marques de dos Aguas, today's pottery museum with its magnificent alabaster facade. We will also walk to the market with the old stock market and end up in the cathedral with the Mikelet tower, which is a symbol of the city.
4th Day


After breakfast we start our excursion to the charming Andalusia as we head towards Granada, a dream of sounds and colors, at the foot of the all-white Sierra Nevada. Arrive early in the afternoon and arrange in the hotel. In the afternoon begins the city tour that is dominated by the rich beauty of the Alhambra - a masterpiece of art and unimaginable detail in decoration, made of plaster, marble and brick, whose name is Arabic and means "red castle". Built on a stone hill, on the estuary of the Darro River, protected by mountains and surrounded by forest, among the oldest neighborhoods of the city, the Alhambra was originally designed for a military area from the middle of the 13th century and became the residence of kings. We will also visit the beautiful gardens of Generalife, an independent palace, which is right next to Alhambra and was a place of relaxation for the kings. Dinner at the hotel.
5th Day


After breakfast, depart for Seville, crossing the area with the Pueblos Blancos (White Villages). We will stop at Ronda a beautiful medieval town built on the edge of a spectacular gorge. We will enjoy the unique view, see the oldest arena in Spain and we will wander through the narrow streets that inspired the poets of Romanticism... and Hemingway in “For Whom the Bell Tolls”. Continuing to the interior of Andalusia we will end up in Seville. Dinner at the hotel.
6th Day


In today's morning tour we will leave ourselves to the charm of the city of Carmen built on the banks of the much songed Guadalquivir. We will wander in the historic city center, the famous Santa Cruz with the picturesque narrow streets, the flower-lined balconies and the most elegant internal gardens throughout Spain. We will visit the city's cathedral, 3rd largest in the world, and we will continue with a visit at Alcazar, the royal palace in Seville, which once had the intention of competing in beauty the famous Alhambra. Our tour will end with a visit to two of the most impressive squares across the country. Spain's Square and America's Square. For the evening, we recommend watching Flamengo dance in its home country and let yourself go in its intense and passionate rhythm.
7th Day


Today we depart for the historic capital of Spain, in the center of the Iberian Peninsula, Madrid. A stop in our way, Cordoba, the city that once was the capital of the strongest kingdom of Islam, a spiritual and administrative center, the most civilized capital in Europe. We will wander in the picturesque narrow streets of the Jewish Quarter where the soul of traditional Cordoba with the wonderful internal gardens are found. We will visit the city center, the magnificent Mezquita Mosque, a silent mosque today, with 850 white-washed columns, marble arches and fine wood, the remarkable remnant of Cordoba's powerful caliphate and the heart of which dominates a Christian temple. Arriving in the afternoon in Madrid and arranging at the hotel.
8th Day


Our morning tour will reveal to us a small part of the wealth of the most important Art Gallery in the world (PRADO). Over 10,000 works belonging to his collection offer a unique journey in Time and Color. We will enjoy the masterpieces of El Greco, Velasquez, Goya standing next to other equally important painters. Then we will walk in the narrow streets of the heart of Madrid. In the famous Barrio de Las Letras, one of the most bohemian districts in the whole of Europe, where many of the great painters and writers of Spain lived and created. Our tour will end with the medieval part of the city in Madrid, Habsburg. In your free afternoon, we suggest you take advantage of it by making an optional trip to Segovia, the city of Queen Isabel, the old capital of Castile.
9th Day


After breakfast departing for the "City of Three Cultures", Toledo, a city of great historical, artistic and cultural heritage. We will wander through the narrow streets of the medieval city and visit the Cathedral, a unique building of great artists and a mixture of many architectural styles as well as the church of St. Thomas, where we will admire El Greco's masterpiece "The Burial of the Count of Orgaz". Return to Madrid. For the afternoon, we recommend a last shopping stroll in the elegant quarter of Barrio de Salamanca, a café in the atmospheric Plaza de Oriente overlooking the palace or simply wander through the narrow streets of the old city, ending up with the impressive Plaza Mayor for a hot chocolate.
10th Day


Impressions capable of filling a lifetime memories was our trip to Spain. You will realize it today that ends, as we fly back to Athens. Adios Espana.
